Pads are resistant to high temperature, thanks to which they effectively protect sensitive elements against overheating during the soldering process. They are ideal for soldering controllers in iPhone displays, where it is very easy to damage the screen with too high a temperature, and for general service work on motherboards.
Pads are a perfect replacement Kapton or Teflon tape and have better thermal insulation than those mentioned above.
