How to use a braid to suck out solder?
- Heat the soldering iron to operating temperature
- Pull the appropriate length of tape out of the feeder
- Apply the tape to the soldering point or the place from which the solder is to be sucked out.
- Apply the soldering iron tip to the tape so that its heat melts the solder through the suction tape. Liquid solder from the soldering point will flow into the interior of the copper braid (visible effect of the copper being covered with a layer of tin).
- If necessary, cut off the used part of the tape with pliers and repeat the solder sucking out operation if necessary.
- The copper braid is covered with a small layer of flux. To increase the speed and efficiency of tin extraction, additional rosin or flux can be used.
